Dear SPY Family,

We hope this email finds you well. We’re all navigating the changing circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic and at Safe Place for Youth, we are working hard to support our youth members, staff, and the community. We are constantly monitoring the situation and are following the recommendations and guidelines of state and local public health officials.

Our priority is the safety of our community and how we can help our young people.  At this time, SPY’s residential programs will continue to operate, and we will provide basic survival needs to street-based youth.

How You Can Help

At our core, SPY is a community organization. As we face this time of uncertainty, we hope to continue to be a source of compassion and security for the unhoused and at-risk youth of our community. In order to do this, we need your help.

Any contributions you make will help us to continue our work, now and in the future. The main items we’re in need of at this time are:

  • Gift cards to fast-food restaurants such as McDonald's, Subway, Starbucks, and Jack in the Box. Just $10 to $15 can provide a meal to one of our members. You can also donate here which will help our ability to supply gift cards. (Please email
  • New socks and underwear are just a few of the items needed. To see a full list of items we are most in need of, take a look at our Amazon Wish List.
  • We are also postponing a few of our key fundraising events this spring. Any donation you can make during this time will help ensure we can continue to make a positive impact on the young people we serve.
Make a Donation

SPY's housing programs, including The Nest, Roots to Grow, and A Bridge Home Sunset are still up and running. With our partners, we continue to provide shelter, food, essential services, and a caring connection.

As you know, the comfort of a well-stocked pantry isn’t a reality for our young people. For many, the food we provide at SPY is one of their only reliable sources for a meal. As we move forward, we’re in need of monetary contributions so we can continue providing food to our residential programs and the street-based youth who are coming to the Access Center.

We've partnered with local restaurants who are also feeling the impact of COVID-19 to prepare hot meals for 100 young people every day. A donation of just $25 will feed 5 street-based youth, and $500 will provide a meal for each SPY youth, housed and unhoused.

We’re stronger together and with your help, we know we can continue providing for our youth. The only thing that will close SPY’s doors is the end of youth homelessness. Thank you for being on this journey with us.
