Update 4/21/20

Dear Friends of VCH,

Thank you to all who have reached out to help the families and individuals we serve. Your generosity has directly impacted our residents and program participants providing food, gift cards, transportation, cleaning supplies, pet food, personal hygiene products, and financial assistance. Donations have also provided our staff with masks, gloves. non-contact thermometers, and additional staffing as we continue to care for our residents.

In these continuing uncertain times, Venice Community Housing stands with the community and is here for all that need us. We are working hard to support our residents, program participants, staff, and our greater community. We are also very focused on monitoring all the information needed to make the best decisions and are following the recommendations and guidelines of public health officials.

We have created a few different opportunities in which you can help:

Meal Train
We have a set up an online “Meal Train” where you can sign up to bring dinner to one of the Roots to Grow program sites and/or bring groceries to families living in our Westminster TLC crisis housing program. Local restaurants deliver to both locations if you prefer that option in lieu of delivering a meal yourselves. VCH staff will be on site to welcome your donation from your vehicle.

Donate Non-Perishable Food & Cleaning Supplies
If you would like to donate non-perishable food and cleaning supplies, please email Myrna Bohan at mbohan@vchcorp.org. She will coordinate the delivery of your donations. We have created a central "VCH Grocery Store" for our staff to distribute donations to our tenants.

Cash Donations
We have also created an online giving option for those who would like to make a cash donation. Cash donations will be used to purchase groceries, gift cards, cleaning supplies, pet food, medicine, and other emerging financial needs for our low-income residents, program participants and unhoused neighbors.

Please note the recently approved IRS law specific to cash contributions during the Coronavirus pandemic:
A new above-the-line deduction for one year (2020) was created for cash contributions of up to $300 made to certain qualifying charities. All taxpayers would be eligible to take the deduction unlike the standard charitable contribution deduction which provides a tax benefit only to the approximately 8% of taxpayers who itemize their deductions. The new deduction would not apply to non-cash gifts or to gifts contributed to donor-advised funds.
For individual taxpayers who itemize their deductions, the limit on deductions for contributions, ordinarily 50% of adjusted gross income (AGI) or 60% for cash, is suspended for 2020. For corporations, the limit on deductions for contributions, ordinarily 10% of AGI, is elevated to 20% for 2020. Venice Community Housing is a qualified charity.

Dear Friends of VCH-

In these uncertain times, Venice Community Housing stands with the community and is here for all that need us. We’re all navigating the ever changing circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Venice Community Housing is working hard to support our residents, program participants, staff, and our greater community. We are also very focused on monitoring all the information needed to make the best decisions and are following the recommendations and guidelines of public health officials.

We serve as an essential services organization and are prioritizing the needs of our residents, program participants, and our unhoused neighbors. We are thankful to so many of you who have reached out wanting to help. The most needed items currently are food to prevent food insecurity and cleaning supplies to help keep our residents healthy.

We have a set up an online “Meal Train” where you can sign up to bring dinner to the Roots to Grow program sites and/or to bring groceries to families living in our Westminster TLC crisis housing program.

We have also created an online giving option for those who would like to make a cash donation. Cash donations will be used to purchase groceries, gift cards, cleaning supplies, pet food, medicine, and other emerging financial needs for our low-income residents, program participants, and unhoused neighbors.

In this challenging environment, we are most grateful to all of you who have and continue to support the work we are doing at Venice Community Housing.
