About Us

Sunrise Surf Academy is a Venice Beach–based surf school offering year-round surf lessons, kids summer surf camps, and seasonal after-school surf programs for families across Los Angeles. Founded by Venice locals, Sunrise was built around a deep connection to the ocean and the beach community that defines the Westside.

Sunrise Surf Academy’s surf curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build confidence, ocean awareness, and real progression in the water. Camps and lessons are available for all ages and skill levels, from first-time surfers learning the basics to advanced surfers looking to refine technique and style.

Sunrise is known for small group sizes, experienced and patient instructors, and a strong focus on safety, fun, and personalized coaching known to create lasting memories both in and out of the water.

In addition to local programming, Sunrise Surf Academy hosts destination surf trips, including international surf travel experiences that combine expert coaching, culture, and adventure. Whether it’s a summer surf camp, a 10-week school program, or a surf trip abroad to Costa Rica, Sunrise creates welcoming, community-driven surf experiences rooted in authenticity.
