Quarantine Shabbat:
A Virtual Visit to Paradise
March 20, 2020 at 7:00 pm
DEAR FRIEND,
We are living through historic times. As I am at home with my daughters, awakening for sunrise runs with my seven year old, and organizing homeschooling (with the spontaneous dance break or two), one chronic thought dominates: Our World is Changing. Forever.
How many of us will not return to school/work/business as usual? This is not just a question about fatalities; this is a matter of lifestyle changes and the windows into our values that our unique and collective situation privileges. I dwell in this headspace: How will this experience change my values forever?
As we enter into Parshiyot Vayakhel/Pekudei, we enter into the Consciousness of Community Creation: the Creation of the Community Center - The Mishkan. And, indeed, at this time, our center has changed. Rather than finding our center in place - be it Erewhon, Yoga Class or Open Temple House - we rediscover our Centers in Time. Shabbat unifies Time and Space. Shabbat is always waiting for us to gather. And, this Shabbat at 7:00 pm, Open Temple and The Jewish Journal are offering a Community Shabbat Experience: Quarantine Shabbat ~ A Virtual Visit to Paradise.
Do you have a poem, a thought, a song that you would like to share? Let us know if you want to be involved in the planning. We are working with our technical staff to broadcast a Zoom Room where all of us can meet, work with our LiveStream staff, and share community far and wide.

Surf with us this Friday night as our spiritual, artistic, and tech leaders host a virtual
Quarantine Shabbat with some of Open Temple's favorite artists and musicians. Sign up here.
We humbly encourage you to attend on Facebook that night, broadcast on the Jewish Journal Facebook page, and support our vision to create an Open Door for all of us to enter our Jewish Soul Journey as we transform ourselves and the world around us. May we use this time as a Time for Self-Knowing and the Cultivation of Love.
Sending Blessings that we all do our part to "Flatten the Curve."
