Beyond Baroque Workshop: The Literary Submission Process with Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo
Participants in this workshop will gain understanding and practice for the literary submission process including how to select poems and open calls, how to write cover letters, and how to keep track of submissions once they're sent. Participants will have an opportunity to workshop a small packet of poems in order to ready them for submission. The last two sessions will be saved for submitting in real time and strategizing for the future.
This workshop will meet for six weeks on Tuesday's beginning Tuesday May 18 -June 22, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. pdt over Zoom.
*One scholarship will be awarded for a QTPOC/BIPOC L.A. residing individual who would like to join but does not have the means to do so. Please email us if interested over at info@beyondbaroque.org
About the workshop facilitator:
Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo is the daughter of Mexican immigrants and the author of Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge (Sundress Publications 2016). A former Steinbeck Fellow, Poets & Writers California Writers Exchange winner, and Barbara Deming Memorial Fund grantee, she’s received residencies from Hedgebrook, Ragdale, National Parks Arts Foundation, and Poetry Foundation. She has work published in Acentos Review, CALYX, crazyhorse, and [PANK]. Most recently her poem, "Battlegrounds," was featured at The Academy of American Poets, Poem-A-Day. She is a member of Miresa Collective and director of Women Who Submit.
