The proposed Mello Act Ordinance would establish regulations to implement California Government Code Sections 65590 - 65590.1, also known as the Mello Act. The Mello Act seeks to preserve and expand the number of affordable dwelling units in the Coastal Zone areas of the State of California.
On Wednesday, July 8, City Planning will hold a staff public hearing for the proposed Mello Act Ordinance (CPC-2019-7393-CA). Details on how to join the meeting are provided in the public hearing notice, now available online.
From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., staff will provide a brief presentation followed by a questions and answers session. The public hearing will begin at 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. during which all interested parties will be provided an opportunity to provide a public comment for the record. No decision will be made during the hearing. Testimony received will be incorporated into the staff recommendation report that will be presented to the City Planning Commission for recommendation at a future meeting.

The proposed ordinance will be scheduled for consideration by the City Planning Commission at a future meeting.
