Ecole Claire Fontaine nurtures the innate wisdom of children. Moving with the changes of the seasons, our emergent curriculum morphs annually to match the interests of the children: Dancing, Textiles, Journalism, Astronomy, Reading, Writing, Ceramics, Painting, Sewing, Baking, Sports, Oceanography, Music, Earth Sciences, Chess, Coding, and more. Exercising compassion, kindness and respect, the happiness and safety of children are our top priorities. We speak in our first languages to deepen dialogue, cultural understanding and neurological capacities, using the OPOL Method (French, Spanish, English). With an international family and teacher base, we learn from, and are sensitive to, all cultures. Our chefs prepare organic meals on a daily basis, eaten family-style to develop the social brain. We encourage the children to try new flavors and foods, while serving themselves to support independence. As global citizens with a deep concern for our planet, we garden, avoid plastic, compost and recycle. Fallen leaves, tree bark, dried herbs and flowers become pieces of art in projects, and are part of the children’s lessons – everything found in nature can be of use in an extraordinary education unfolding in art, language and nature.
