Join LA River Expeditions at the Glendale Narrows or the Sepulveda Basin on an official tour providing an entertaining and indelible learning experience through boating while transforming perceptions about the Los Angeles River, and creating new possibilities for responsible use.
Our journey downriver educates participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities about the history of the river, building environmental stewardship and community leadership, and teaching river safety and paddlesport skills. We are sensitive to nature, in terms of keeping a light footprint and cleaning up garbage wherever we go.
Through your urban adventure, you will learn about: the local wildlife, the watershed, the history of the river, and boating and river safety skills.
Traveling the river by canoe or kayak will provide you with a fresh understanding of the river — distinct from walking or biking along its banks. This experience will fundamentally reconnect you to the river, and will inspire and empower you to be river stewards. As you have fun while gathering indelible memories, you too will play a role in creating a clean, healthy, safe and sustainable river for current and future generations.
Open Temple Kayak Tours are an invitation to fall in love with our local history and the politics of water, the watershed and its surrounding environment, and many other aspects of life in Los Angeles.
